Marketers & “Big Data”

Challenges Related to the Use of Big Data

So, just what is Big Data?  According to Wikipedia, “Big data is a term applied to data sets whose size is beyond the ability of commonly used software tools to capture, manage, and process the data within a tolerable elapsed time. Big data sizes are a constantly moving target currently ranging from a few dozen terabytes to many petabytes of data in a single data set.”

We came across a study “Challenges Related to the Use of “Big Data” Collected by US Marketer, Feb. 2012″ in a recent emarketer article that provides insight into big data integration.

The study reveals that more than half (51%) of US marketers said their biggest Big Data” challenge was the lack of sharing of data among company departments.  Click here to view entire emarketer article
